Have a Credit Score Under 700? Do These 5 Things Now

A credit score of 700 is typically pretty good but the hired is the better rates you'll get when applying for a home loan. Whether you're looking for a mortgage, refinance, or simply looking to apply for a loan, the higher your credit score is, the better terms and rates you'll get. If you're looking for a quick jump, here are five moves you can make now to increase your credit score over 700.

#1. Use Credit Sesame.

Yes, you can use different tools and online resources and Credit Sesame is just one of those. This company will take a look at your credit report and let you know exactly what you need to do to improve your score. That's pretty good. Most lenders will have to pull your credit before doing so. Credit Sesame will take a look at what your credit score needs to improve quickly.

#2. Get a company to pay your credit card bill.

Yes, not just the monthly, but all of it. Chances are, your credit card company has insane rates and they're probably getting rich off of you but there are other companies that can actually help you out including a website called Fiona. Fiona takes a look at your credit score and will help match you with a low interest loan up to $100,000 that you can use to pay off your credit card balances. You're left with just one bill to pay every month and because the interest rate is much lower than what you currently have, you can get out of debt faster. Even if you're worried you won't qualify, you can check for free online in just a couple of minutes and list literally could save you thousands of dollars.

#3. Talk to your creditors.

You never know unless you ask. If you have a solid credit history, chances are you'll be able to speak to your lenders and improve your credit score simply by asking. You can either write a letter or call them explaining how long you've been a loyal customer, take responsibility for any mistakes you've made, describe steps you're taking to ensure issues won't happen again and appeal to their empathy. You want to keep it short, sweet, and to the point. Make sure you let them know your account number, the date, and any amount of missed payments that you want removed from your credit history. You might be surprised.

#4. Contact Collection Shield 360 for complicated issues.

If the first three steps don't make a huge difference, you may need to call in reinforcements. Collection Shield 360 is a free service that helps people clean up their credit reports and deal with collection notifications. They will contact your debtors, remove or negotiate marks on your credit report, and help improve your credit score. Many people have seen a 100 to 200 point jump in just a few months.

#5. Shop around for new car insurance.

Did you know that experts say that you should be shopping for new car insurance about twice a year? Who has time to do that? But honestly, insurance companies take a lot of factors into consideration and they change your price all the time. Chances are you're paying too much. There are many services that actually do the shopping for you and customers can save anywhere from $600-$1000 a year or more depending on how much are currently paying.

While paying off debt, making on-time payments, and paying off credit cards every month are definitely the way to go, there are little loopholes and services that you can use to help you get out of debt faster.
