Sun City is home to about 19,000 residents both permanent and snowbirds throughout the year. With average temperatures between 65° and 90°, Sun City Texas makes a wonderful place for play, leisure and relaxation. This 55+ active adult community is part of the City of Georgetown and about 35 miles from Austin. Nestled north of Lake Georgetown, Sun City makes an ideal place for fun and recreation.
Sun City Texas is a golf cart friendly community legal to drive unlicensed golf cars on the street, in the development and in shopping centers. Only about 20% of residents are golfers, but almost everyone has a golf cart
There are three golf courses, a large center for activities, several swimming pools, a fishing lake and many other recreational facilities. There are two satellite activity centers located across the development, both offering a pool, fitness center activities and dance studios.
Of the three golf courses, Cowan Creek is the newest. In addition, Legacy Hills and White Wing are also golf courses in Sun City. Cowan Creek is an open Hill country course designed by Gary Stephenson. It’s perfect for skilled players and intermediate players as well. There are five sets of tees and an open layout perfect for the novice to Excel without intimidation. Legacy Hills has been noted as perhaps one of the best in the entire state of Texas. This is perfect for any golfer of any level and was designed in 1997 selected as one of the top 10 new courses by Dallas Morning News at the time. There are five tees per hole and large greens with an average of 8000 ft.². There’s a variety of elevation changes and beautiful scenery along this 18-hole course. White Wing was the second of the three courses at Sun City featuring 18 holes and a par 72. It was designed by architects Casper and Nash of Phoenix Arizona and takes advantage of many of the natural features we’ve come to enjoy here in Texas. This is the largest of the three courses occupying over 118 acres including three lakes, the largest spanning over 4 acres.
Sun City is all about what you feel like doing today. If you’re dedicated to having a good time, relaxing, maybe picking up a hobby you’ve always wanted to learn or simply relaxing at one of the many recreational centers throughout Sun City, it’s doable and achievable here. With over 50 chartered clubs and interest groups, there’s something for everyone! From golf, bowling, sewing, entertainment, dancing and simply enjoying an active social life, Sun City Texas is where anyone 55 and over can find their ideal lifestyle.
